Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV)

Advancing the care and treatment of exotic companion mammals.

Overview

Established in 2000, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) has grown to become an international association with more than 600 members. The AEMV is an association of veterinary professionals that are dedicated to advancing the care of ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, rats, mice, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and other exotic companion mammals.

There have been professional associations that have existed before that are interested in avian, reptile/amphibian, zoo animal, and wildlife, however there were none that existed for veterinarians wishing to offer the best medical and surgical care for owners of exotic companion mammals before the AEMV.

The AEMV publishes their own scientific journal, the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine (JEPM), and hosts an annual education conference with fellow exotic species professional associations.

Membership

Membership to the AEMV will show the dedicated assistance to furthering the care of exotic companion mammals. In addition, members will receive a subscription to the JEPM and other discounts and access to exotic pet publications and events.
